I create saturated narratives and immersive environments as a means of personally recalling events and phenomena which are subject to collective cultural, historical and spiritual amnesia. In doing so, I present layers of our societal belief systems. In particular, I present those layers which rationalize the human dilemma of admitting to our vulnerability. My intent in this activity is to enable participants to recall, reimagine and regenerate what we may have already committed and perhaps lost to memory.

On this path of creative inquiry, my past investigations have fostered a dialogue for sociocultural and environmental consciousness while attempting to advance the permeable channels between art, science and technology. Through a creative merger of artistic and scientific sensibilities, I have explored a diverse spectrum of projects whose common thread has been to investigate the fragility of lifeforms at the common interfaces of vulnerability. These projects have employed experimental new media, traditional visual art venues, site synergies and unique multidisciplinary fusions as functional tools for public engagement and the remediation of the aesthetic qualities critical to the continuation of our personal, societal and natural environments.

The manifestation of this conceptual pursuit builds upon an evolving process which is initiated through the sighting of contextual relevance as it relates to my intent to root a dialectic via the poetic admixtures of aesthetics, spatial narrativity and emerging media. This initiation of my own consciousness flows into a perpetual cycle of inspiration and materialization as mediated by mixed-media installations, net art projects, interactive multimedia, data bending, video visualizations, sonifications and speculative live cinema performance. The conceptual and aesthetic emergence of these investigations reside on a platform of research, material collection, technical feasibility, iteration of prototypes, venue development and audience outreach.

My projects over the past fifteen years have intersected at a diverse range of junctures with respect to sociocultural/ecological contexts and their associated dialectics including: the environmental changes in the Andes and Upper Amazon Basin; normalization of life for Ixil Mayan refugees returning to their post-genocidal homelands; the diffusion between the clinical and familial at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Research Center and the propagation of ecological memory in the digital/electronic media domain.

At these junctures I have employed a diverse range of creative media as vehicles for dialogue exchange around the perceptions of vulnerability that have become interlaced with site, personage, influence and memory. Project execution has entailed a developmental convergence of aesthetic, material, technique and venue manipulations in synergy with content delivery. Outreach of these temporal projects has added further persistence through community-based lectures, artist-scientist exchanges, online disseminations, and as testimonial for a shared pedagogical base of a sustainable creative praxis.

It is through this evolution of narrative, speculative and locative processes that I hope to triangulate a collective consciousness of vulnerability that might, in some part, be sustained via the multisensory engagement with my creative endeavours.
