We Sing to You...(from the Edges of the World) (2025) is a lichen biosonification performed in situ in Parque Nacional Queulat, Valdivian Rainforest, Patagonia, Chile. Lichen colonies border the extremes of biological habitation (occupying 1/8 of terrestria). They are a robust mixed species used for scientific study of biological survivability. With electroacoustic tools, I have recorded interactions with microelectrical communication of lichen networks in situ and transcoded messages to electroacoustic output. This prototype demonstrates the potential for lichen communication being transcoded for creative inquiry into the limits of biocultural habitation of a planet in the midst of climate/eco-angst.
